Multi-Directional Wheel
Owning a market share of over 65%, Lantis
Corporation, a French-owned company, is the world's leading builder of
aircraft freight loading and unloading equipment. Lantis provides
container pallet loaders for various commercial, industrial and military
applications to over 45 countries.
In 1994, SKS was asked to conduct a feasibility
study on the Multi-Directional
Wheel (MDW) because of the failure of the existing ball-and-pin
construction to perform up to Lantis' standards of reliability.
The challenge was to design a cost-effective part which would be able to
handle the stress of day-to-day operations.
|
During research and
development, SKS found creative design solutions to complement its
superior die casting production methods for the MDW. Each unit was
designed tohave six rollers, resulting in increased reliability and
flexibility. The design and tooling costs were quickly recouped by
the substantially lower cost per unit. Greater longevity is a
cost-saving bonus, and as production continues, the savings go on and
on.
Let SKS put "Total Production Analysis to work for you."
The DSC front panels, the Ashtech antenna, and the MDW are three
typical examples of the savings |
