High-Strength Casting at $123.00  Less Cost

Zeiss Corporation's Humphrey Systems of Dublin, California manufactures the world's highest quality medical optical equipment.  Humphrey's delicate instruments rest on a standard Base Power Table.  This Base guarantees surefooted stability and ease of mobility.  Humphrey equipment provides essential medical support throughout doctors' offices and hospitals worldwide.

The size of the Base Power Table formerly limited production to the sand casting method of manufacture at a cost of $192 per base.

SKS' new 1000 ton fully automated HPM die casting machine is equipped with a High Technology package of controls with heavy-duty high velocity shot capacity.  Parts as large as 48 inches x 40 inches and weighing up to 35 pounds now can be automatically cast.  A Visitrac

Series 2300 programmable shot control system is integrated with a Dynarad Robomation automatic pouring ladle.

A Dynarad MS-600 electric resistance melting furnace holds metal at precise levels and is capable of maintaining a 650 lbs per hour delivery rate.

Superior technology is providing Humphrey Systems with excellent quality at less cost.  The new "U" shaped base is 34 inches wide with 26 inch arms.  The finished machined die cast part weighs 28 lbs. and costs $69 -- a savings of $123 per Base.  The differential cost between the sand casting and the die casting has allowed a $126,500 investment in tooling to be returned after 1,028 parts -- only 17 weeks of production.

Humphrey Systems is delighted.
